This SDK is necessary for WLAN (802.11) development on the new VH10.

If you are not using the WLANEx namespace for WLAN development, then you may use older versions of the MDSDK on the VH10 provided that they are MDSDK version 5.0 and later.

MDSDK 6.0 can also be used for software development on the Omnii and EP10.

We have invited EDF to hold a conference to present AMELIE, the project that has transformed the Supply Chain of spares parts for nuclear facilities in France. It involves professionalizing a “spares” branch, centralizing stocks at a new platform and re-engineering the entire logistics process in an SAP environment. The Psion WORKABOUT PRO 3 rugged PDA has contributed to the success of this project through the implementation and configuration of 220 units interfaced to SAP.

Blog Post: Windows Embedded 8 and Visual Studio 201X (Pro)

I admit it, I still have a Blackberry Smart Phone.

I still run WIndows XP.

I still am developing on Visual Studio 2008.

Some of this is by Choice. (I like my BB Flip-Phone - 9760 Style)

Some of this is due to Existing Support requirements (WinXP -- Help Desk Software.) And assistance for "common platforms" Visual Studio 2008 -- For Windows CE, Windows Mobile 6.1, and Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5.3.

Moving forward:

I use Windows 7 and don't mind it. -- I do however have personal opinion issues with Windows Vista. (And I won't share them here) And Windows XP is like that Old Car that just keeps running and running, but is quite dated, and showing some wrinkles; but you keep putting in more gas and oil, and changing the Windshield Wipers.

Windows 8, I like. On Tablets, and other touch-screen computers. I liked playing Mahjongg with my son at the Microsoft Store here: (http://yorkdale.com/stores/microsoft/) on Windows RT. From Microsoft: http://content.microsoftstore.com/store/detail/Toronto-ON

I asked about Kinect for Windows -- and they did not have any (humbug) only Kinect for xBox (I already got one, but it is "technically unsupported for commercial SDK)..

Then I found out What the Kinect SDK and Win8 SDK require for development.

So my choice needs to be Visual Studio 2012 Professional. But there's the rub. -- I cannot use Windows XP. (Sean checks his wallet) -- More Gas, More Oil, Wipers, and a License for a Virtual Machine hypervisor to allow WIN7 and WINXP to co-exist on a good workstation.

So I guess my development with Kinect for Windows will need to be put off for a while. But with RhoMobile: Building apps that run the gamut of Operating Systems platforms is an alternative.

Birmingham National Exhibition Centre - 19th - 22nd March 2013

Psion, now part of Motorola Solutions exhibited its current products and solutions alongside its Platinum partner, CSI. IMHX is the UK's leading show for the intra logistics marketplace and featured stands from a diverse range of major supply chain and infrastructure partners. On display at the Motorola stand were rugged, tablet and handheld mobile computing devices and infrastructure systems designed to meet the needs of today's sophisticated and highly complex supply chains.

Psion last attended the event three years ago and there have been many new developments since then – not least the advent of practical enterprise tablet solutions, such as Motorola's ET1. Psion / MSI was privileged to attend the UK leg of this year's BlueStar European Tech Summit. An audience of around 100 key channel partners heard from business and industry experts at the standout venue of the Williams F1 Conference Centre in Oxford. To kick off the conference, senior executives from BlueStar EMEA and the UK described how their business is evolving to better serve vendors and also their key customer channels, including the introduction of a new business social network.

Scott Garrett, a business consultant and former Williams employee shared his insights into the running of the Williams F1 team and demonstrated how effective and efficient teams contributed to a successful company. Jonathan Brayshaw from Original gave his thought-provoking predictions for the future of mobile, social media and the supply chain in the next decade.

In the afternoon, vendors that included Psion/MSI gave a detailed overview of existing and new products to support the educational and sales needs of the channel. The event culminated in a team event on the official Williams F1 racing simulator, where delegates were invited to participate in a competition to see who could achieve the fastest time.

The event received great feedback and will now move on to a number of events across Central Europe designed to provide the same levels of business support to the distributors continental partners.

Die CeBIT als weltweit wichtigste Veranstaltung für die digitale Wirtschaft endete am vergangenen Samstag in Hannover.

On February 26th - 27th Varlink hosted their Annual MTM ( Meet the Manufacturer) event 2013 at the Hilton Hotel Warwick.

Upon arrival and after setting up our exhibition stand - the first time we exhibited as part of Motorola Solutions, Psion's UK team attended a Vendor Meeting and presentation given by Mike Pullon CEO who provided an insight into the key stratgies that Varlink had embarked on throughout 2012 and shared with us just some of the great work achieved by his internal sales and marketing teams.

on 26th February evening We ventured to Warwick Castle, the venue of choice for the evenings Awards and Achievements as a result from 2012 from the UK partner network, and enjoyed a 3 course meal and Comedy entertainment from Lucy Porter. Psion / MSI were the key sponsor for the evening meal.

	Walter Knoll AG & Co. KG, ein international führender Hersteller von Polstermöbeln und Objekteinrichtungen, setzt eine RFID-Lösung in Kombination mit dem Psion Workabout Pro 3 ein. Das Unternehmen vereinfacht dadurch das Management seiner Möbel und optimiert die Prozesskette in der Logistik. Der robuste mobile Handheld Computer sorgt als Lesegerät für Barcodes und RFID-Codes für Transparenz bei der Verwaltung der Möbelstücke. Das Unternehmen weiß dank der Lösung immer, welche Möbel sich in welchem Zustand im Lager, in der Auslieferungshalle oder beim Kunden befinden. Die wichtigsten Fakten Mit der RFID-Lösung und den mobilen Handheld Computern von Psion konnte Walter Knoll den manuellen Aufwand für die Verwaltung der Möbel reduzieren, Logistikprozesse vereinfachen und die Inventur beschleunigen. Geliefert wurden die Geräte von der WAROK GmbH, einem Value-Added Distributor von Psion. Unterstützung bei der Installation erhielt Walter Knoll vom IT- und RFID-Spezialisten avus Services. Walter Knoll stellt pro Jahr bis zu 70.000 Möbelstücke her. Die fertigen Möbel werden verpackt und per Spedition an die Kunden verschickt. Einigen Möbelhäusern werden sie lediglich als Leihgabe zur Verfügung gestellt. Erfolgt kein Abverkauf, kommen die Möbel nach Ablauf eines vorgegebenen Zeitraums zurück und werden in einen Pool von Mustermöbeln aufgenommen. Da in der Vergangenheit der Originalbarcode immer wieder verloren ging, musste das Möbelstück bei der Rücknahme erneut identifiziert und erfasst werden. Darüber hinaus entstand ein zusätzlicher Aufwand durch das Anbringen eines neuen Labels. In einer manuell erzeugten Liste wurde der Zustand der Möbelstücke dokumentiert und in einem nachgelagerten EDV-System erfasst. Um die Prozesse im Möbelmanagement zu vereinfachen, hat Walter Knoll mit Hilfe von avus Services eine RFID-Lösung installiert, die den Workabout Pro 3 von Psion als Lesegerät nutzt. Nach der Erfassung wird im Display sofort angezeigt, welche und wie viele Möbel zu einem Auftrag gehören. Die Daten werden anschließend über WLAN mit dem ERP-System abgeglichen und via Handheld Computer durch die Zuordnung eines Tags zu einem geöffneten Datensatz mit der RFID-Nummer des Möbels verknüpft. Die RFID-Etiketten reduzieren manuelle Arbeiten und verhindern gleichzeitig Redundanzen, da die Lieferscheine mit der tatsächlich ausgelieferten Ware durch ein RFID-Gate automatisch abgeglichen werden. Zudem ist immer ersichtlich, wo sich das jeweilige Möbelstück befindet und wann es das Lager verlassen hat. So konnte auch der Zeitaufwand für die Suche nach bestimmten Möbeln erheblich gesenkt werden. Auch die Rücknahme der Möbel wird durch die RFID-Etiketten optimiert. Ein Mitarbeiter liest mit dem mobilen Handheld Computer den RFID-Code aus. Die Daten erscheinen im Display des Handheld Computers und der Mitarbeiter kann eine Beurteilung des aktuellen Zustands jedes Möbelstücks hinzufügen. Diese Informationen werden automatisch an die Datenbank übertragen. Damit wird jedes Möbelstück automatisch im Mustermöbellager inventarisiert und das Unternehmen profitiert durch mehr Transparenz, Geschwindigkeit und Sicherheit.
