Old PSION SSD

  • PCI SSD Drive System - Software installation.pdf

    Hello All,

I have an old PSION SSD that doesn't appear to load on my HP 6000 Pro MT running XP SP3. Attached are the instructions I used. Should I see a drive in My Computer?

  • Good evening Keith,

Please take a moment to browse the below attached document.

PCI SSD Drive System - Using the Utility Software

  • Hi Jacques,

Thanks for your response. After the install I get an error in the Oval software (Failed to connect to the Psion - no Psion present of incorrect COM port set.

    Keith

  • I changed the COM port to COM 3 and get the error Failed to connect to Psion - incorrect Baud rate set. I get this for all Baud rates set on COM 3.

  • Keith,

On which physicall PC COM port is the Psion connected to?
Is the remote link turned on, on your the Psion unit?
If it is, at what speed?

    Regards,
    Jacques

  • Not sure how to find out what port the Psion drive is using

Not sure what the remote link is. The Psion unit has no switches or even a power light

I don't see anything that tells me what the COM speed is on the card or the unit. How do I find this?

  • Please, take a moment to browse the following knowledge based article:
Knowledge » Knowledge Base » Connecting the Workabout MX to Your PC

  • I am connecting the Psion drive above to my computer not the Workabout.

  • WOW! Hold down for a sec...

Let me bring to your attention that upon startup, OVAL (*) - the now discontinued Psion Object Visual Application Language / IDE - automatically attemps connecting to one the following Psion SIBO devices (only):

    • Series 3, 3a, 3c, 3mx product ranges

    • Workabout, Workabout MX

In short, this IDE has nothing to do / knows nothing about the PC SSD Drive system!

(*) The OVAL SDK can be downloaded here.

  • I just found out that the SSD is totally seperate from the OVAL software.

    Email from a coworker:

The Oval software is completely independent from the interface board.  The interface board is used to provide connectivity to the solid state disk modules used to store the Psion scanner programs and data.  It allows the solid state modules to be addressed as an external disk drive.  Psion program and data files can be copied to the solid state module from a folder on the PC.

The Oval software is a Visual Basic (subset) development environment for preparing Psion programs.  It does not use the interface board.  It can communicate to a Psion scanner through a serial connection to the Psion docking station.

  • Keith,

I am glad to read that we are now both on the same wavelength Wink

    Regards,
    Jacques
