Hello~
We have recently begun work with new PTX scanners: 7527C running CE 5.0. The initial porting of our application was done with a borrowed/demo scanner from PTX that had a non-2D scanner on board and things went fine. Now that we have our own scanners delivered, with HHP 5180 2D scanner, we are seeing a problem with the Imager app/service running on them.
The Imager appears to "take control". For example, our application (App 1) has a need to start a second application (App 2). When we exit App 2 we are expecting App 1 to become active/in focus again but it is not. This is not the same behavior we saw on the borrowed/demo non-2D scanner from PTX...that one returns focus to App 1 as we expect. On our new 2D scanners App 2 is greyed out and data from further barcode scans is lost to our App 2. If you look in the Task Manager, Imager consistently pops it's way to the top of the list no matter how many processes/applications it was behind.
Also, we have a second scanner (also 2D) loaded with Vocollect Voice capabilities. On that scanner we can shut down Imager from the TaskManager and then our two apps behave the way we expect. On the scanner without Voice shutting down Imager from Task Manager makes the initial problem worse and even freezes things up to where we need to warm boot the device. Shutting down Imager is not necessarily something we want to do, just mentioning it as part of our experimentation and then noticing the different results on the different scanners.
Other things: 1) our applications are currently using a PsionTeklogix.Barcode.Scanner object 2) we will also need to support PTX devices with the 1D scanner (EV15???) and 3) we no longer have the borrowed/demo scanner from PTX to make direct comparisons or test with.
We have been looking through the Ingenuity site for some good documentation on this and how to handle it but have not yet found what we need (looking forward to a more search filter options...hint hint). What can you tell us about Imager and how we can best control/use it's features?
Thanks for any guidance you can offer!

Hello,
do you have imager.lnk or imager.exe in the windows/startup directory on your terminal?
If so, try deleting it and then warm resetting your terminal.
For best performace the ICS SDK (used for PTX 2D imagers) should be used and can be found here - community.psionteklogix.com/.../544.aspx.
However it is not a must unless you plan on taking pictures with the 2D imager.
