Before anything, i would like to introduce myself briefly.
I am Angelo, and I use everyday Psion devices (mostly 7035 and sometimes 7535 and NEO) in my work at a warehouse in Barcelona (Spain).
I have been more than one year developing a project for the company. The main idea was scan barcodes for fill some fields requested by the software, also for the quantities, avoiding the keyboard use. We already use this kind of shortcuts everyday successfully for several applications, and we increased our efficiency.
Function keys are used for confirmations and screen changes. This is the hardest part for me, i have searched and tried everything to create or use succesfully a barcode ( $i as F9 for instance). Specially hard to push function keys at NEO device. I saw a similar problem in a recent post, but i think the answer is not valid for me.
My project is stuck on this point. Until now, i´ve found several clues:
What about enable the full ascII on the device? Is it default enabled?
Do you think it could disturb the scanner for other scans, or bring strange consequences for the software?
Any ideas for make work the function keys by barcode?
Thank you so much for your help in advance. I appreciate it.
Hello,
see if hte below table helps.
Hi Angelo
Are you scanning into TekTerm? In that case you can do this using the translation table.
Simply create a rule whereby you replace the entire barcode ($i in your example) with the function key.
You can enter the function key in the "replace" field by pressing "Insert key" followed by the function key you wish to use.
Another solution, if you are using TekTerm, is to use softkeys. It does take up some room on the display, but is easy to configure in the Tekterm settings.
I hope this helps
Nick
By the way, Angelo: welcome to Ingenuity Working!
Nice to see you here. :)
I'm going to try tomorrow the codes $... , but this time with the scanner SHIFT pushed. Maybe I´m lucky.
Maybe I have to enable something in the scanner or the software.
By the way, we don't use TekTerm software. We use a kind of old fashion software, I'll give you more information about it.
Thanks a lot, i'll keep the contact. Have a good day!
