RFID LF + WWAN in WAPRO3 ??

RFID LF + WWAN in WAPRO3 ??

This question has suggested answer(s)

Hello, we need a RFID LF reader (application bovine) with GPRS or 3G in WAPRO3. I have here a Agrident reader, but does not fully solve my problem. Is there any solution tested by Psion?

Thanks.

Thanks!

  • This is listed as the RFID Module LF-AH1-G2. You mentioned the LF-AM1-G2 earlier. Typo?

  • It is LF-AH1-G2. See, I messed up too! Big Smile

  • Aneline and Peter seems to be happening any misunderstanding.

Peter, please excuse me if I wrote something that displeased him.

Aneline, also apologize to you if I have offended.

We are in different countries and different cultures, so perhaps I have expressed myself was not the most appropriate.

Please do not take this into consideration.

Now who are upset with me.

    Thanks!

  • Wander,

I am not upset at all. I am looking forward to meeting you some day, because I think we have a lot of things in common when it comes to dealing with RFID in cattle.

I think you will be wasting your time trying this reader LF-AH1-G2 on cattle. I have seen it at one of Psion's demonstrations and the read range is very poor, and there are no extensions that I know of that will help protect the operator from the moving head of the cow/bull/calf.

  • Wander,

I don't think you offended anyone. At least you need not worry about it from my end.

Let me know if I may be of further assistance.

  • I agree with Peter. As I stated before, the LF-AH1-G2 has a much shorter read range and it is not used for cattle tracking. For pet, or sometimes sheep/lamb, tracking that might work ok. For larger, quicker and more dangerous animals that's not a suitable solution.

By the way Peter, have you rolled out any applications for fish tracking? I'm working on one and it does involve the Agrident reader.

  • Peter and Aneline, first let me say that there was confusion in the answers given by me and it sometimes makes a bad impression and I would never want to cause this. But c'mon, I'll accept yours opinion and I'll just invest my time in CF WWAN only. We have an extremely aggressive and as I mentioned solutions need to be very robust.

Then send pictures of a barn here in Brazil.

Thanks all and see you next.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks Wander. Earlier in your post, you mentioned that you had to create your own solution for the telescopic antenna. Could you share some details on that with us? I'm very curious to see what you were able to come up with.

Also, does your modified external antenna allow for the use of a barcode reader in conjunction with the antenna itself?

  • We have been involved in fish tracking, but not with the Agrident Reader. Most of that tracking has been done with stationary reader that store the microchip number, which is all that has been needed to be recorded when working with fish (mostly large numbers). No real need for individual data recording, for which the WAP is great.

  • Thanks, Peter. I'm always curious to learn about new applications or about other people's experiences in animal tracking.

In the application I'm working on the tracking part is split in a few parts:

    - one which deals with the fish population (large numbers as you said) which does involve a fixed reader and some interesting antennas.

    - the second which involves sampling where the WAP is involved. Mind you the fish we're dealing with are large (salmon, sturgeon, etc).

    - third which deals with inspection of a specific location and the WAP is involved again

    - the last which deals with the fish carcasses, and the WAP is involved there too.

  • Hi,

RFID Module LF-AH1-G2 can be combined with GPRS. The reader connects to the USB interface on the MLB.

Please look at above link where you will find the tags which this reader can read.

On Below link you will find more information on RFID in our products.

  • Hello Jan,

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately this reader does not have a long read range and how you can read in previous posts, our animals here are very aggressive.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Correct, sorry for the mistake, I missed the thread below when I was answering.

  • OK JAN!

    No problem.

  • Hello Wander,

We have developped a new solution for livestock tracking based on an Ikon integrating an Agrident module with an internal antenna and a binder connector for an external antenna. With our solution you can have all the radios of the Ikon (BT, Wifi, GSM/GPRS/3G, GPS) plus Agrident module.
