I started with Psion as a "mobile sales manager" in the US- 7 years ago. I had a project on the board for 500 units. First hurdle was no CDMA- we tested vs AT&T and this 1B dollar company switched based on the seamless roaming that GSM provided. Deal breaker- we had no tethered stylus at the time- and I had an order for the first 100 units. What to do? Well, I made them in my garage- took two hours each as I had to drill a hole in the existing stylus, stitch a loop and fastener to the chord, and finally stitch a holder on the case-whew. Well, we rolled out the entire project. Shortly after we started shipping them our new, factory tethered stylus. I received a surprisng request "we like the old ones better, can we get those instead?" Sorry, that guy is out of the tethered stylus business!
Good Story. I say we bring back this little venture. Call it "Schwuchow Tethered Stylus and Emporium Inc."
Talk about going the extra mile! But, as so often is the case, it's the little things...
Indeed, great story Matt
Great story - Sure hope this could spawn a Psion invented one as well
Some times its all about getting it done. I had a "weekend project',for a customer in need, years ago. It seems the customer wanted windows in thier nema boxes but the lead time was VERY long. We had plenty of solid nemas so some plexy glass, ingenuity and a weekend later we had a solution.
awesome- windows for nema boxes. I never knew what version of Windows that nema's used- now I do- it's Windows 6.Joe!
similar to what you said about the stylus, I think that mfg has gone out of business:-)
great story Matt and Joe
