Hi
Has someone tried Zigbee on a Psion device?
Can we do Zigbee

yes...we have a partner who's done such a solution for their accounts.
What did they use the technology for, if you don't mind me asking? Did they go with Zigbee for the low power consumption?
They're using a Zigbee radio in the WAP to interface with Zigbee based calipers used in the logging industry. They chose to use this technology due to its power consumption features, range and connection reliability (when compared to some BT connections).
Hi Aneline,
Do you have more details on this site?We have a customer interested in using zigbee on a WAP3 here in Australia.
Hi All, my experience with Zigbee radios is limited to person use (hobby).
The zigbee radio are offered at various RF Powers levels which can increase range at the cost of of power consumption.
Zigbee are most effective when used for communicating with larger number of ultra low power sensing devices (temperature) The mesh technology allows for relaying messages between devices to increase range at the cost of high date latency times.
For point to point communication using devices such as a printer ,the power consumption of the printer swamps out the lower power consumption of either the Zigbee or Bluetooth. In this case the Zigbee radio would have marginal improvement over the bluetooth in increasing the run time of the printer batteries.
The calipers is a good candidate for Zigbee because of it's very low power consumption
Again i have limited experience with the Zigbee radio.
We know some partners have been using Zigbee on Workabout Pro, just through CF cards slotted into the device.
Hello Wayne,
