[EP10] error reading main os image data

  • Hello,

As the title says: what to do if an EP10 gives this message? The message appears in the BooSt menu when performing a clean reset.

  • Good morning,

At this point, I would be tempted to ask you to reload the system images from a µSD card.
EP10 System images can be found here.
Installation instructions can be found here.

    Kind regards,
    Jacques

  • Hi Carema.

Please make sure that when running a .CLEAN on a HHT without being connected to a Snap-In module or a Cradle that:

The MicroSD Card does not contain any .IMG files in the root folder of the MicroSD card.

The "\Flash Disk\" folder does not contain any .IMG files in the root of the "\Flash Disk\" folder.

If the EP10 is cradled and the Cradle (Or USB/Power Snap-in module) is connected with the short USB A-Host adapter, please make sure that a USB Thumb Drive does not contain any .IMG files in the root folder of the USB Thumb Drive.

If these do, you will see the above error message when booting to BooSt and you will not be able to perform a .CLEAN and it will be difficult to stay in BooSt since it is likely to load the default boot image when it encounters this error.

If the .IMG file is on MicroSD, then remove the MicroSD and run a .CLEAN.

If it is on the "\Flash Disk\" you may need to connect the EP10 Via ActiveSync in order to access the "\Flash Disk\" folder to delete the .IMG file.

  • Hello Jacques and Sean,

Thanks for your replies, the customer is going to upgrade the OS just as Jacques said. When this doesn't solve the problem, I will ask him if there are any files in the \Flash Disk\ folder. He doesn't have a SD card in the device.

  • After trying to reload the system images, the following message appears:

Load skipped. Images appeared to match

    Any ideas?

  • Hi Carema.

Yes, that is in fact normal.  If the System Image matches the running image on the device, BooSt will not reload the image.

In order to effect an update a change in version of the Firmware is required. Usually this is done by a TC, Depot, Or via Help Desk for capable customers.

As I indicated, -- delete the .IMG files -- and reboot to BooSt.

If no .IMG files are seen it will not attempt to update and you can choose which Menu Item test you wish to perform, or run a .CLEAN  ( .25326 on numeric keypads) to reset the EP10 to known .CLEAN defaults.  Then you can run the ADD-ON.CAB file that goes with the .IMG that matches when the unit is running Windows.
