E1 Certification?

E1 Certification?

  • A customer had some questions on a proposal we did for them. One of the questions was do psion terminals have an E1 certification for use in a vehicle. I did some research and this seems to be a European Union certification that applies to the safety of mechanical and electronic components used in vehicles. The customer is the the US but the parent company is in the Netherlands and where I think this question is originating from. Do our terminals have such a certification or do they even fall under a product that would require that certification?

  • Hi Don,

Attached please find the certificates you were looking for.

  • Hi Don,

The terminals are covered by an EU direct specific to R&TTE equipment - 1999/5/EC - so do not require 'E' marking. However, all our DC/DC adaptors for use in vehicles have the E mark on them.
