MIS 3.5 Installation & Testing

  • Hi ,

I'm going to install and run MIS 3.5 in a working company . (  There is a Narrow Band wireless with Hand Helds and right now they work with MS SQL database and existing Application).

I already installed MIS on a server ( windows server 2003 , with MS SQL 2000 Ent . ) All prerequisites was met . And now I have MIS running .

Is there any  guide to use  and configure MIS .To have some   SAP forms in handhelds  ?

What we need  at this point ?

     Esfandyar

  • The  version  SAP  is R3 .

  • Hi Esfandyar:

Are you trying to connect to the Mobile Data Entry transactions (LM00 or LM01) in SAP? This can be done without any extra programming and I can describe the details of that in a reply.

If you are trying to connect to SAP with RFC, IDoc or web services, that is a custom development effort that cannot be easily described in a reply.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,
    Bruce Irschick

  • Hi Bruce,

In this site we have a narrow band wire less , using  9160 gateway.

At this time we use 7530 & 7035 handheld with existing ERP & SQL.

Now SAP is going to run , some modules  are ready and we want to have forms  of these modules in handhelds.

I installed MIS on a server and everything seems to be OK . What steps should I do to have those forms in handheld ?

  • Hi again Bruce ,

We have LM00 right now . Could you please tell me what steps we have to do ?

  • Hi Esfandyar:

I've created an article on how to get started with TekConsole SC here:

Let me know if this answers your question.

  • Hi Bruce,

Thank you. Connecting by 7530 G2 is OK . But my old 3035 hand held does not work . Its two LEDs blinks fast and device stays in Base Initializing mode.

For enabling a new terminal :

I added new terminal and I  set  "Transaction" to console too . But there was no success.

How can I config that ?

    Regards,

    Esfand yar

  • Correction : But my old   7035   hand held does not work

  • Hi again,

The problem solved . The  7035 Hand Held hardware  was the reason ( radio board problem  : both LEDs blinking .)

We changed the handheld and now everything's OK .

Thank you Bruce , your post was excellent .

As a new request : how can we connect Work About 3 ( Windows mobile OS ) to MIS  . I know there is a client  OTT client for Windows Mobile.

How about configuration ? Type of Tekterm must be Wi-Fi ?

    Best Regards,

    Esfandyar

  • Hi Esfandyar:

Good to hear you got it working.

Yes, you will need Open TekTerm (OTT). WiFi or narrow-band (but not available on WAP 3) is available for MIS/TekRF/TekConsole.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

  • Hi Bruce,

I want  have integration to MIS in a Wi-Fi  network . How can I configure to  connect to  MIS server .

This server now is working with a 9150 gateway .

    What should I do   ?

  • Hi Esfandyar:

If you don't already have a TESS session configured in Open TekTerm (OTT), add one...

Give the session a name and set the Type to TESS. Then click the OK button to create the new session...

For the TESS session, click the Edit button to modify the connection type and settings...

Set the Connection Type: to 9010t. Then click the "Settings" button...

Change the "Host Address" to the IP address of the MIS system.

Also, modify the "Terminal Number" to a unique ID (compared to all the other configured terminals).

Click OK on the remaining dialogs to save the changes.

Click on the "Restart" link (or press 9) to restart OTT so that all the changes can take effect.

Your new session should connect to the MIS system automatically.

  • Hi Bruce,

We have installed and test MIS .  But as a software there are 2 parts :

1-Transaction Design Studio & Transaction Editor

2-Synchronous Development Environment (GUI, RFC, Dialog)

What are these 2 parts ?

As I know MIS acts as a server and it can show our RF-Menu ( LM00 )  forms on mobile devices.

But I want know is it necessary  to have these 2 prat of software ?

And please send me a more comprehensive  document  illustrating the abilities  and benefits of this solution to integrate with SAP

    Regards,

    Yousefi

  • Hi Esfandyar:

These are development tools to help create customized applications to integrate with SAP. The scope of this development is too complex to detail on this message.

I believe the majority of your customers will want the TekConsole SC package to integrate with their SAP Mobile Data Entry and other WM and eWM transaction, as it has become the best known and the standard way to integrate.
