Test results of GPS accuracy

Test results of GPS accuracy

This question is answered

Hi,

Firstly, let me say that I think what Psion's trying to achieve by creating this platform for its customers is a great thing.

I have to admit though, I expected a bit more details concerning the different modules contained within the Ikôn (7505 in my case), perhaps there have been some tests conducted and I'm simply looking in the wrong place?

I'm very curious to find out how Psion rates its own GPS module, the SiRFstar III.

Kind Regards,

Miguel

  • Hi Miguel,

In the past we have had our challenges but Psion Teklogix have put a considerable amount of work into improving the Ikons GPS performance.  I personally have conducted various field tests with the Ikon and I can tell you that depending on the use case, the Ikon GPS is as accurate or more accurate than our largest direct competitor device.

Some of the use cases can be found here

To answer your question, I would rate the Ikon GPS accuracy (at the time my tests were conducted) to be as good or slightly better amongst its peers in the marketplace.
