Hyundai VIN codes problems

  • I need to know what would be the appropriate reader for reading bar codes vehicles (specifically hyundai).

I had the same problem I've tried long range laser and laser. attached image

    thanks.

  • Hi Alex

An HHP imager may read the barcode if it is problematic.  Is the barcode on a door jamb of a vehicle or is that a box?

As for options which terminal and scanner model are you testing with?

    Regards

    David

  • Hi Alex,

the barcode in Hyundai VIN is an interleaved 2 of 5 , we had used Moto LORAX scanner to read this code ...I guess we need to set the digit lenght in the scanner settings to match the digit in Interleaved 2of 5 code else it may not read..you may also use anylenght in the digits .

we had scanned this in Hyundai Factory in Chennai India in Production line as well as dispatch yard ..

    Trust this helps.

  • Good info, yes the default configuration settings on specific scanners could be related to the apparent non decoding of the barcodes.

  • Using an HHP imager and camera on an XT15 I was able to decode the larger barcode from the screen as I 2of 5 with a data length of 8 (20185618). The smaller barcode did not decode from my screen

  • You have to be careful sometimes to find out what the manufacturers default settings are. For example,  the Motorola SE655 default setting for Interleaved 2 of 5 is for a set length of 14 only. A better default would be  "I 2 of 5 Any Length".
