Today I tried to get some infos about RFID options for Workabout PRO. I followed these steps:
1. community search: "1051310" = product no. , "RFID Module HF-T2-G2" = product name. results: 02. community search: "RFID" in general. No product infos found at all.3. Google search for part no. and name = zero infos !4. community+google search of two other RFID modules of Teklogix = zero again.
The product itself contains - as always - a poorly printed 1-sheet-instruction cramped in the small box. It refers to WAP G2 User Manual. I checked twice carefully, RFID is not covered at all in it. Second the instruction-sheet refers to a RFID LF/HF user manual on Teknet. Once Teknet was available, this manual was not online.
A product not found is a product not existent for customers. I am really excited how this community-site is improving the situation.
Let me share a copy of the RFID product Guide G2, as a start
RFID PRODUCT GUIDE WAP G2 and 7535 G25224.RFID product Guide G2 -B40NA.pdf
You are right, the visibility of RFID options on the Workabout Pro is low.
There is a section under developers where you can find a full documentation package, embedded into the RFID SDKs. But this cannot be seen from the search tool.
I am working with Daljit and Matt to change that. We are considering adding a RFID section to the knowledge base (Jacques' proposal).
We are going to upload this RFID guide, and the dedicated RFID datasheets where you can find more details for each RFID reader.
Meanwhile, don't hesitate to contact helpdesk or RFID group directly for your RFID projects.
I´m fighting with my new WorkaboutPro 7527C-G2 because I want to programm my own RFID applications. No CD-ROM with programming information or user manuals was provided. I'd like to know if this lack of information is Psion Teklogix policy or it is a problem of the Spanish sales representant.
I'm just new in this forum and I'd like to know how can I contact with the RFID group and how can I register in Teknet.
Thank you very much. Regards,
I'm not sure which reader you're using in your Workabout Pro but you can find the appropriate development files in the Developer section of this site http://community.psionteklogix.com/developers/m/rfid_sdk/default.aspx
Our site also contains an "Ask the Experts" section which allows you to post your RFID related questions directly to the expert group http://community.psionteklogix.com/home/ask_the_experts/rfid_experts/f/38.aspx .
If you could let me know which specific reader you have I will forward the users manual to you.
Thank you very much for the informationand for your help. We are using a TAGSYS MEDIO S002 reader. So We have downloaded the files in [HF] TagSYS SDK for WAP family - v2.01 zip. We are using the MedioSTX.dll and the STXe.dll libraries to create our own applications.
My first doubt is if I must just use the function MSTX_Open or if I must first detect the devices connected to the different ports. Anyway, I´ve installed the Psion Teklogix SDK but I cannot find the necessary librarys that are mentioned in the documentation.
When I use the MSTX_Open I´m not sure about the port COM to use as first input parameter, COM1 (Expansion Serial) or COM5 (Port replicator) (In the Psion Teklogix Mobile Devices SDK Developers Guide I cannot find the serial port assignements for our equipment). With COM1 the function returns No error (TRUE), but I cannot obtain anything more from the reader (version oder address).
Thank you again for your help. Regards,
You'll need to use the HF SDK you downloaded in conjunction with the MSDK we have posted on our site.
Concerning the COM port issue, if you're using our demo application, the HF reader is seen as COM15. This is due to the fact that the demo creates specific keys according the USBSerial chip version installed on the RFID reader.
For the older readers, they use the default USBSerial driver and they are by default located on COM5.
If you want to modify this value you can do so by going to the Index key in HKLM\Drivers\USB\ClientDrivers\PsionTeklogixUsbSerial\
Index = 'wanted value'
If you're still having problems please let me know and I'll be more than glad to help out.
I´ve installed both SDK's and I cannot still communicate with the RFID reader. I remind you my past question:
"My first doubt is if I must just use the function MSTX_Open or if I must first detect the devices connected to the different ports."
I´m trying to follow the example project that can be found in the RFID SDK but a different include file is used: #include "PsionTeklogixWORKABOUTPROHDK.hpp". Is this file essential?
Thank you very much for your kind and useful help.
Try this tool
Before you use this SDK, install the RFID demo tool and make to ensure that the RFID Reader is communicating the Workabout Pro.
Please keep us posted.
The RFID Demonstration Appication was already installed when we received the equipment and it works properly. We have problems when we try to developed our own software because we cannot get any answer from the reader by using the MedioSTX dll. Our questions are:
1. Must we first detect the device connected to the COM port or can we just use the Open function of the RFID SDK?
2. If we must first open the COM port and detect the RFID reader, which functions must we use? As I´ve mentioned in a previous post, the example provided in the SDK folder use the file named, PsionTeklogixWORKABOUTPROHDK.hpp but we cannot find it any where.
3. Is it possible to find a nice, clear example where just a connection to the reader is stablished?
Thank you very much for your help. Regards,
