This article describes the use of Open Tekterm templates in A.R.C. and how to update them.
An A.R.C. installation includes "Templates" to guide you through the configuration of things like Wireless network configuration, Device Settings, Registry key configuration etc. Open Tekterm is also configured through a Template, but since with each version of Open Tekterm there is a potential for configuration parameters to change, Open Tekterm Templates are not included in an ARC installation.
OpenTekterm Templates are distributed separately with each Open Tekterm release. In order to configure a version of Open Tekterm with A.R.C., the correct Templates will need to be copied to the A.R.C. Template directory.
A.R.C. templates are stored here:
32 bit Windows OS versionsA.R.C. Version Location1.0 – 3.x C:\Program Files\Psion Teklogix\ARC\Templates 4.0 and higher C:\Program Files\Psion\ARC\Templates
64 bit Windows OS versionsA.R.C. Version Location4.0 and higher C:\Program Files (x86)\Psion\ARC\Templates
ARC v 4.1 The template location has changed due to UAC limitations in Windows 7. The new paths are indicated below. There is also a utility in the ARC Templates download link below that will help to find the template folder location.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Psion\ARC\Templates
Open Tekterm Templates are posted on the PSG Portal on The Source. Look for the A.R.C. Templates folder on the Open Tekterm page. Extract the xml files from the zip and place them in the directory noted above. New Templates are visible immediately to A.R.C., just create a new Component.
Each Open Tekterm Template is unique to the version of Open Tekterm, therefore, when creating an OTT Component to configure a version of Open Tekterm, you must use the version of Open Tekterm Template that matched the installed Open Tekterm. Before downloading a component, A.R.C. will compare the Component version with the one reported by the terminal. If the versions do not match the Component will not be downloaded or therefore configured on the device.
The Templates can be found here:
