Communication Server - How to set the timeframe to kill the ideal sessions.

This question is not answered

Hi Everyone,

How we can reset the session from the communication server side. Is there any parameter availablie which will kill the session atutomatically if there is no transaction since specific time-frame like 45 Mins.

We want to kill the session available on communication server if session is ideal since 45- 60 Mins .

Kindly Advise!!!

  • Hi Shobit

The commserver does not include this type of automatic session timeout, as this is normally a function of the host as the session really resides on the host and terminating the session remotely may still leave the host resources tied up for a period of time, depending on the host.  Can this perhaps be done of the host side?

  • Hi David,

if we are trying to kill the session from the Host - Telnet Server, the session became restore automatically due to communication server, we want to kill the ideal session from both the machine end (Host & Communication Server)

Kindly advise if there is any parameter to control or kill the ideal session from both end (Host & Comm Server)

  • Hi Shobhit

First if you could confirm which emulation you are inquiring about?

For 5250 emulation Auto Telnet on the controller can be set to only connect when a user receives a prompt message to "press enter to connect" and then presses enter or it can be set to always try to connect when a terminal is online.

    Per the user manual:

    Auto-telnet Without User Action:

If this checkbox is selected, the CommServer will attempt to connect to the host as soon

as a terminal initializes, and it will attempt to reconnect if the telnet session is closed.

Is this setting enabled or disabled?

    Thanks

    David
