IKON 7505 not discovering WPA2

This question is answered

Hi Boys & Girls,

I've got a brand new out-of-the-box IKON 7505 next to me with Win 6.1 loaded on. We're rolling out WPA2 in the offices now and am working on it now with my laptop. The laptop like all the other devices including my Ipad discovers the SSID of the WPA2 network and connects to it without a problem but the IKON 7505 doesn't and it's not just this one it's all of them. Is there a know problem with these devices that I don't know about? Please set me out of my missery and let me in on the secret.

Thanks for your help in advance!

  • You mention you are using an EAP type. ( PEAP ? )  Have you installed the root certificate that  issued the certificate for your Radius server on the device ? This will be necessary if using zero-config .

I would suggest using SCU to configure the device. Select the Summit Configuration Utility and change the configuration from "third party config" to a

manually configured configuration. You do not have to validate the server certiicate if using SCU to control the radio.

If you are still having issues you may want to supply as much information to the help desk on the configuration of the infrastructure.

  • what supplicant have you tried? Summit Client Utility (SCU) and/or Windows Wireless Zero Config (WZC)?

Also, what is the OS code and Add-On CAB version?

    WPA2 Personal or Enterprise?

If enterprise version is used, what EAP type?

  • Hi Luke,

Thanks for taking time looking into this... we've got Enterprise and EAP implemented, encryption type is AES. Not sure about the supplicat though where would I look for this? I don't see anything Summit Client Utility mentioned anywhere so must be WZC.

EDIT: OK I've come across the configure network adapters tab and I'v got Summit WLAN Adapter listed.

  • Hi,

Is there any additional information that I can provide you to be able to move forward with this?

    Thanks

  • Thank you Doug, using SCU to configure it manually did it for me, as you said correctly I didn't need a certificate doing it this way.

For everyone else out there especially if your IT sits in a different time zone, I connected to the WPA2 with a laptop with the certificate installed and went to its properties to see what the configuration settings were and used this to setup the SCU profile and it only asked your domain username and password to connect to the wifi.

    Thanks!
