Total Recall not always creating profile - Neo CE5

  • I sometimes experience a strange issue with Total  Recall on Neo Devices (WinCE5) where you create a profile and follow all the steps only to find that on completion no profile has actually been created and if you browse to the Flash Disk location where the profile is usually stored its empty.

A couple of times I had a Defualt_prfl1 folder appear in the Flash Disk folder but not the other files that go with it. On other devices when running TR and doing exactly the same it works fine. Sometimes the solution is clean start and redo it a few times until seems to work.

Any ideas on why this happens at times?

  • Hi there,

That's rather a strange occurance.  What is the "OS code = ?" on that NEO?

    Thanks,

    Ed

  • Hi Ed

It has been happening on different devices at random. I think some folders in the \flashdisk folder were removed such as "startup" I don't know if that could be the problem. Also it happens mostly on the devices that have .net CF runtime installed as one of our sites doesn't use Tekterm but uses a custom .net solution.

It is has however also happened on vanilla devices straight out of the box.

The OS code of one of the devices it is happening to now is: F151l and I tried creating a clone profile and during the process it does a warm boot but after the warm boot it starts up and says no auto restore profile found. When I look in the \flashdisk folder the folder total recall creates is there but it is empty and there aren't the other files that get created. The version of TR in this case is 4.5.16003.0 in this case. It also asks me to enter the WiFi key just before it reboots (warm boot) if that is any help, and when it restarts the custom software loaded is also gone.

The inconsistencies are created unneccary delays and extreme frustration.Angry

  • Hi,

NEO's with firmware version K091m have also the same total recall problem.
    Some customers downgraded there devices...

When will a new firmware be released?

    Thanks.

    Hi all,

I work in PSG and I am currently working on this very issue.  Basically there is a problem with one of our function calls that has to do with resetting the terminal in regards to doing a warm or cold reset.

I am hoping to have a possible software fix that could possibly act as a work around on Thursday or Friday.  So this is a know issue at this point and I am currently working on a possible work around.

  • Hi Ping,

Yes we have a test build that we are testing now.  Once we know it is ok we will turn it into an official build.

  • Is there any update yet on this as its been over a month? Its getting critical our side to have this resolved.

  • Hi Ping,

Sorry for the delay.  I just gave the files needed as a workaround for this issue to Luke.  I have asked Luke to distribute the files to you and let you know what to do with the files.
