Change Mobile Control Center Server

This question is not answered

Hello,

we actually have two MCC Server running:

The old one

  • Version 3.04
  • 40x 7535G2

the new one

  • Version 8.02
  • 20x Omnii XT10

Now we bought 40 licenses to manage the 7535G2 with the new MCC Server.

We greated a new Agent on the new MCC Server and installed it on the 7535G2. After the installation process the new MCC icon changes two the old one and the scanner still ist connected to the old server.

we tried to uninstall the olde MCC Agent and removed the files like described in this teknet.

All without success.

Does anyone have an idea.

Thank you for your help.

Tobias

  • Hello Luke Wakefield,

    thank you for your help!

We deletet all files on the Flash Disk, then we copied the new Agent-Installer at the Flash Disk and installed it. If wie disable the deployment service at the old server, the new agent keeps installed but it points to the ip adress of the old server.

If we reactivate the deployment service at the old server now, a few moments later the old agent will be installed.

If we install the new agent on a completely new device every works fine.

  • Hello Tobias,

The IP address of the MCC server is stored in the pdb.ini file in the Flash Disk. I know that you said you've cleaned off all files, but are you sure you removed this file also? The symptoms described are exactly what would happen if the old pdb.ini file was still there.  Also if there is a Total Recall profile on the 7535 and the unit does a cold reset, it would restore the old MCC agent and files.

  • In addition to Lawrence's suggestion, per the MCC Help file,

The uninstaller for the agent does not remove all installed files from the device. This is to ensure the device can be easily re-introduced to the Mobile Control Center system when installing a new version of Mobile Control Center. In order to completely remove the Mobile Control Center Device Agent from the device, you must delete the files and folders listed below. It is then recommended to soft-reset the device to verify the uninstallation completed successfully.

In the persistent storage folder (set during install time), remove the file pdb.ini, and the folder PdbPkg.
In the root directory of the device, remove the files PkInst.logPkCtrlSv.log, and the folder PdbInfo.
