Hello together,
is there a possibility to activate the LED of the camera without camera function by OMNII EP10? I thinking here for a flashlight (torch) application.
Thanks in advance.
Andreas
Hi Andreas.
Not directly though a Psion SDK or a Microsoft SDK API call.
The Flash / Flashlight can only be enabled when the Camera Control is activated, and controls for the appropriate settings are connected to the software control. In this case, a Camera Preview window shows the camera imagery as well as providing controls for the Flash when activated.

When i understand correct then i get a preview window for the camera - thats correct? Or it is possible to activate the camera without the preview window? Than we can activate the camera LED as torch function.
Thank you for your answer.
At this time, the Light used with the Camera can only be controlled by the Microsoft Interface that can turn it on. In this case the Camera Preview / Camera Aquire interfaces. A control to turn just the camera on would need to be looked into. -sean
Sean,
There is an Android app that does exactly this for smart phones. Is this something we can look at to see if it can be ported to the EP10?
Hi Dan.
Don't forget that Android and Windows Embedded Handheld are two Different types of firmware platforms.
Although Android technologies are helpful from an open source perspective, for hardware things like the Camera Light/Flash, there is a lot different under the covers between Android and Windows. -sean
Hi Sean,
Do you know how bright is the EP10 Flash LED. Do U have any EP10 Flash specfications.
Hi Mazhar
Sorry I don't, But Product Support Group might be able get you that information.
Hi All,
The flash was measured at 1 meter having 80 Lux and 31.6 Lux at 2 meter distance.
Hope this helps,
Eilbron
Hi Eilbron,
Just kidding
Did you point to another EP10 and used its ambient light sensor to measure this?
