Lockdown Menu - Camera

This question is answered

Hi Folks,

Using the lockdown menu on our iKon's, trying to have "Camera" as an icon, however i can't seem to get it right.  i currently have the link set to:

"\Windows\pimg.exe, -camerakey PICTURESAPP"

However, when we select the link, it displays an error saying "Cannot load file."

Using the latest firmware, and I have the latest Psion Addon installed.

Anyone that could point me in the right direction would be great.

Cheers,

Sam

  • Hello Sam,

Some programs that provide a front-end for launching applications can have issues passing command line parameters to the application.  This is an issue that we in the helpdesk have seen with other security lockdown menus.

A workaround may be to create a Windows Shortcut (.LNK file) that calls the executable and includes the desired command line parameters.  There is information available on creating shortcut files on the MSDN:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../ms861519.aspx

Using the information from the MSDN, we can create a shortcut file on the terminal that contains the following text:

    40# \Windows\pimg.exe -camerakey PICTURESAPP

Once the file is created, your security lockdown can point to the .LNK file which will in turn launch the application.

  • Hi Sam,

By lockdown menu, you mean MCC correct? If so please advise which version and build of MCC.

    Thanks

  • Hi Lawrence,

It's actually SOTI MobiControl, and it's version 8.51 build 5251.

This has solved the problem with the Camera on the lockdown menu,  I'm going to start separate threads for the other couple of problems we have.
