File size of "PkCtrlSv.log"

File size of "PkCtrlSv.log"

This question is not answered

Hi all,

on some Psion Ikon devices, the file "PkCtrlSv.log" in the root directory grows to an impressive 10 to 15MB in size, causing storage shortage on some devices. What is this file logging? And is there any way to limit its max. file size?

Thanks & cheers,

Sam

  • Hi Sam,

PkCtrlSv.log is a log file which should contain general activity and information on Mobile Control Center (MCC).

Let me see if there is a way to limit its max file size. Will get back to you the soonest possible.

  • Hello Samuel,

Sorry about the delayed response on this issue.   The size of the log file can be controlled through the advanced settings that are defined on the MCC server.

Right click on the device or group that you would like to affect and select Configure -> Advanced.  Within the Advanced interface click 'Advanced' again.  In this interface you can see the minimum and maximum log sizes.  The default minimum size is 200KB and the default maximum size is 800KB.

I have been made aware of an issue in some past versions of MCC where the default log file sizes are ignored by the terminal.  If your device agent and server are affected by this bug, setting the minium and maximum values to non-default sizes (201KB -801KB) should quickly reduce the size of the log files on the terminal.

Please let us know if the settings in this interface have resolved the issue for you!

    Thank you,
